Terms of use

The service operator and contact details are in the Imprint. The Privacy Notice explains the processing of personal data separately from these contractual terms.
Contributor rules
- Submit only research records you are allowed to share.
- Do not submit employer-confidential, client-confidential, collaborator-confidential, unpublished, patent-sensitive, trade-secret, personal, patient, or third-party protected information unless you have the right to share it.
- Do not submit personal data of other people unless necessary, lawful, and authorised.
- Do not submit instructions primarily intended to cause harm, bypass safety controls, or enable unsafe misuse.
- Do not upload notebook images or research notes containing confidential employer/client information, trade secrets, patent-sensitive information, personal data, patient data, or third-party protected content unless you have the right to share and process it.
- Do not submit fake, joke, spam, abusive, illegal, unsafe, or misleading records.
- Public records may become visible to other users.
- Private records are intended to be private, but avoid uploading highly sensitive or confidential information.
- AI/OpenAI, PubChem, and RDKit suggestions should be independently verified before use.
Beta software
NullYield is experimental beta software. It is not scientific, clinical, chemical, safety, legal, intellectual-property, or regulatory advice. A null or non-significant result does not by itself prove that an effect does not exist. Users remain responsible for scientific interpretation, safety, legal rights, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
Free access and research licence
Reading and submitting research on NullYield will remain free for researchers.
You retain your existing rights in your contributions. By making a research record public, you grant NullYield a non-exclusive licence to use, reproduce, distribute and sublicense its research content for commercial purposes, including as part of datasets.
This licence excludes private and group-only records, original notes, account information, questions and replies.
You agree to this licence when accepting these Terms. It takes effect for research content when you save a record as Public. Accepting updated Terms alone does not license existing submissions. A later public save covers only the content saved at that time, from that save onward; it does not license earlier revisions or private or group-only content.
Saving a private or group-only record does not grant this licence.
We do not sell your private account information.
Reading and reuse
The licence to NullYield described above does not grant public readers a general licence to copy, redistribute, resell or use protected research content for commercial purposes. Uses permitted by law or a separate licence remain unaffected.
These Terms do not grant a licence to copy NullYield's software, branding or website design. Third-party components retain their own licences.
Moderation
Admins may moderate, hide, or delete records that are spam, abusive, illegal, unsafe, in breach of privacy or intellectual-property rights, or otherwise unsuitable for NullYield.
Age note
NullYield is intended for adults and professional or educational research users. It is not directed to children under 13.
Requests
You can delete your account from the Account page. To exercise privacy rights or raise a privacy complaint, email contact@nullyield.org. See your privacy rights for the request process and response times. Account-wide access and portability requests can be handled by email even where no automatic export tool is available.
Future service changes
Individual record exports and revision history are available now. Account-wide exports, scheduled retention controls and further privacy choices may be added as the service develops.
